The Citroën Total World Rally Team is entering two DS3 WRCs for the factory drivers. After winning eight world titles on the trot since 2004, Sébastien Loeb and Daniel Elena are already dreaming of title number nine. Mikko Hirvonen and Jarmo Lehtinen have joined the official team alongside them.
Sébastien Loeb
Sébastien Loeb is the most-titled driver in the history of rallying. He holds the records for the highest number of world titles, number of consecutive victories, victories in a season and podiums on the trot.
Sébastien loves driving and has met with success on the circuits, finishing second overall in the 2006 Le Mans 24 Hours. In the end-of-year awards he is always elected one of France’s favourite sportsmen due to his talent and his natural simplicity.
Daniel Elena
Daniel Elena made his debut as a codriver with Hervé Bernard in the FFSA Rallye Jeunes team during the 1997 season. In the 2006 Sardinian Rally Elena became the codriver with the highest number of victories in the FIA World Rally Championship, as his twenty-fifth win beats Luis Moya’s record.
Since then he has continued to rack up victories and titles. Like his driving buddy, the Monegasque is the codriver with the highest number of titles and victories in the world championship.
Mikko Hirvonen
Aged eighteen and with his driver’s licence in his pocket, Mikko Hirvonen jumped behind the wheel of a rally car. In 2002, he won the Finnish Group A 2-wheel drive category and became a Ford and then a Subaru works driver.
Back to Ford, Hirvonen became Sébastien Loeb’s main rival in the WRC title chase with three runner-up positions: in 2009 and 2011 the Finn lost the world title in the very last round.
Jarmo Lehtinen
Thanks to his father, Jarmo Lehtinen was immersed in the world of rallying from an early age. He had his first outing as co-driver in 1988. For just over ten years he accumulated experience before meeting Mikko Hirvonen in 2000.
The crew racked up fourteen victories in the WRC, but they were unable to prevent Sébastien Loeb and Daniel Elena from winning the titles. Lehtinen has filled the runner-up spot in the World Co-Drivers Rally Championship on three occasions.
